There are plenty of opportunities for your group to visit museums throughout your battlefield tour. Museum visits offer kinesthetic learning for young groups visiting the battlefields, as well as the chance to view some war relics and research the lives of soldiers. Some museums also offer you the chance to discover and explore private underground tunnels and trenches.

activity books

Educational groups such as schools and cadets can request activity books to complete whilst on tour. The activity books we offer aim to involve each member of the group and contain history, geography and religious studies questions. Your booklet can also be tailored to suit your group’s requirements and will include military questions for cadets.

Living History- Platoon Experience.

From April to November, young groups of over 14 years of age can join the Platoon Experience. This is an immersion project (Ypres only) for students / cadets to better understand the realities of war from a soldier’s perspective. You are put in the position of an Australian platoon in 1917 following the bloody track to Tyne Cot Cemetery. All your students will be fully dressed and equipped with uniform, luggage and rifle included. This is a full day Living History experience led by a local tour guide, which will include a tommy tucker lunch (genuine soldier’s meal of 1917).

Bag pipes

Take Us Touring can offer you the chance to be joined on tour by a professional piper. The piper will be in full uniform and will play a lament or commemoration service at the entrance of a cemetery or a location of importance to the group members. This is an emotional service that aids in the remembrance of our fallen soldiers.

Poppy Crosses & Wreaths

Groups are encouraged to purchase poppy crosses and wreaths to lay at soldiers graves, memorials and other locations throughout the battlefields. These are available upon request. All donations go to the Royal British Legion.
